AKC and UKC GR Champion Daggot's Diamond in the Ruff
Evie has been the most fun that Shirley and I have ever had. She is an AKC Champion and a UKC Grand Champion. She was the #1 Chihuahua in UKC in 2008 and we were invited to Premier. This was our second year to attend. The year before my little girl Lola had won Breed in the Top Ten but had not progressed past the semi finals. But 2009 was our year! Evie won breed and progressed to the semi finals where she was pitted against 24 other dogs. Each judge would pick four dogs to go to the finals. There were four other groups of four winners. The semi finals were held outdoors and it was pouring down rain! The wind was cold and Evie was freezing. However, it was my good luck that Evie was the only smooth coat in our group. Both the Judge and Shirley were drenched to the bone but Evie stood proud! She was picked for the Top Ten Finals. I would have gone home here and been quite content. That evening the Top Ten Finals were a black tie event so we dressed and trotted over with Evie in tow. Twenty dogs entered the ring for the finals and Evie was the smallest of the lot. Each dog is judged in a different ring by three different judges who kept score cards. As Evie progressed from ring to ring with Shirley, the entire building erupted in applause for her. She was at her best and I knew I was watching magic. She had done her best for me and I did not need a win or expect one since companion dogs don't usually get into the Top Ten . Top Ten Juniors are held next while the scores are tabulated. Then all 20 dogs entered the ring for the final Top Ten. Number 10 was called first and when they said "THE CHIHUAHUA" the room erupted! My Evie was the #10 dog all breeds! Words alone can not describe how I felt! I am so grateful to Shirley Myall as none of this would have happened without her to guide and support me. She does such a good job with my dogs.
Evie is a Champion!
It was great fun showing Evie to her AKC Championship. Shirley did all the work and Evie never had an off day. She was always glad to be in the ring. Watching her move brings tears to my eyes.
Jack and Evie
Jack and Evie are litter mates. They are from the second litter of Ch Salina Cruz She's the Best (Pearl)owned by Mike Philip. I am so grateful to Mike for letting me have these two dogs. Pearl consistently produces pups with great movement.
Daggot's Diamond in the Ruff wins Best of Breed
Evie loves to show but hates to have her picture taken. Going in the ring with her is a breeze for Shirley but getting a good picture is so hard.
Shirley and Evie at Premier 2009 Top Ten Finals
This is Shirley and Evie at UKC Premier 2009 during the finals. She has beaten over 400 dogs to get to this point.
Premier 2009
Evie is shown in three different rings to three different judges. See how the judge in the next ring who is currently checking another dog can't keep her eyes off Evie. This was so much fun.
